What a full rebuild includes
A complete interior rebuild, from strip-out to final inspection. Each stage depends on the one before it, so the order is the work.
Interior demolition
Remove old drywall/plaster, flooring, cabinets, trim, doors, and damaged finishes.
Selective structural repairs
Repair or replace damaged studs, joists, subfloors, headers, and framing.
Mould remediation and moisture repair
Remove contaminated materials, fix leaks, and dry the area before closing walls.
Framing and partition wall construction
Build new interior walls, bulkheads, soffits, closets, and openings.
Window and exterior-door adjustment/replacement
Ensure openings are square, flashed, sealed, and airtight before interior finishes.
Air sealing
Seal gaps at penetrations, rim joists, attic transitions, and wall interfaces before insulation; this helps prevent condensation and moisture problems.
Insulation installation
Install batt, blown-in, rigid foam, or spray-foam insulation in walls, ceilings, floors, and basements as appropriate.
Vapour barrier and air-barrier installation
Install polyethylene or approved membrane on the warm side of the wall assembly, with sealed seams and penetrations.
Drywall installation
Hang, cut, and fasten drywall on walls and ceilings, including moisture-resistant board in bathrooms.
Taping, mudding, and sanding
Apply joint compound and tape in multiple coats, then sand to a smooth, paint-ready finish.
Priming and interior painting
Prime repaired/new drywall, then apply ceiling and wall paint.
Flooring installation
Install subfloor repairs, underlayment, hardwood, laminate, vinyl plank, tile, or carpet.
Trim, doors, and hardware installation
Install baseboards, casings, crown moulding, interior doors, locks, and handles.
Cabinets, countertops, and built-ins
Install kitchen/bathroom cabinetry, countertops, shelving, closets, and storage units.
Final fixtures, inspection, and cleanup
Install lighting, plumbing fixtures, electrical devices, vents, and appliances; complete municipal/trade inspections, touch-ups, and final cleaning.
